Avaya one-X Communicator (Softphone)

Avaya one-X Communicator is a software application that allows you to answer and make telephone calls, using your University of Washington telephone number, from your computer. Below, are the basic, initial, software set up instructions.

Using the Avaya one-X Communicator on Windows 10

01) start the program Avaya one-X Communicator

If you computer does not already have Avaya one-X Communicator installed, download and install it from the UW-IT UWare site:

get Avaya one-X Communicator from the UW-IT UWare site

 

02) use the following to log in:

Extension: your 5 digit UW phone extension
Password: contact the iSchool IT Help Desk

Using the Avaya one-X Communicator on a Mac

01) if Avaya one-X Communicator is already installed on your computer (check Finder -> Applications) proceed to step 05

if Avaya one-X Communicator is not already installed on your computer, proceed to step 02

02) in a Finder window, click Applications, double-click Self Service (if Self Service is not in Applications, you need to enroll your computer with the iSchool Mac management system)

03) at the Self Service log in screen, for Username use your UW NetID, for Password use your UW NetID password

04) on the right-hand side under Categories, click Applications, click INSTALL under Avaya One-X Communicator

when the installation is finished, exit Self Service

05) in a Finder window, click Applications, double-click Avaya one-X Communicator

06) in the Account Setup window, use the following settings:

Server: contact the iSchool IT Help Desk
Extension: your 5 digit UW phone extension
Password: contact the iSchool IT Help Desk
Domain: uw.edu
Voicemail: *8279898

click OK

 

07) click one-X Communicator, click Preferences…, click Directory, enter/use the following settings:

LDAP Server: directory.washington.edu
Port: 389
Search base: ou=Faculty and Staff, ou=People, o=University of Washington, c=US
Scope: Subtree

click the top-left red X to exit the one-X Communicator preferences window
