Microsoft Outlook will create an auto-complete entry for every email address that you send a message to. Usually this is a benefit as it makes adding recipients to email messages much easier; just start typing the person’s name and press the Enter key when the name appears.

There are some situations where you need to delete an auto-complete entry. The most common situation happens when a contact of yours changes their email forwarding from Exchange to UW Google Apps. When someone uses an Exchange server for their email, the auto-complete entry in Outlook includes information about that Exchange server. If this person then stops using the Exchange server but keeps the same email address, the auto-complete entry still contains (now incorrect) information about the server because that is where the email account resided when the auto-complete entry was first created.

If you are getting bounced-back emails when sending to a contact, you may need to do one or both of the following:

1) log into the Outlook Web App
2) start to create a new email
3) type the name of a person whose auto-complete entry you want to delete
4) highlight the auto-complete entry you want to delete, using the keyboard press the Delete key ( fn + delete on a Mac)

3) when the auto-complete entry appears, click the X
