LanSchool is a computer-classroom management software. With LanSchool, teachers can observe and control students’ computers.

LanSchool is available in the computer labs in Mary Gates Hall room 430, Mary Gates Hall room 334, Mary Gates Hall room 082, and Mary Gates Hall room 076.

Special note for teachers in Mary Gates Hall room 430: the LanSchool Teacher Console is only installed on the Mac operating system. You are able to share both your Mac and Windows operating system screens with students, but you can only access the LanSchool controls from the Mac side. If you are in the Windows operating system, move your mouse pointer down to the bottom of the screen to bring up the Mac dock and you will be able to access the LanSchool Teacher Console.

Some of the most-used features of LanSchool are:

Show teacher’s screen on students’ screens
Blank or lock students’ screens
Show a single student’s screen on other students’ screens
Share files between the teacher computer and students’ computers

 

Show teacher’s screen on students’ screens

01. start the LanSchool Teacher Console

02. select all of the student computers you want to display the teacher’s screen on, click the Show button, select Full Screen (the students computer becomes locked and the teacher’s screen takes up their entire monitor) or Windowed (a window showing the teacher’s screen appears on the student’s desktop, allowing the student to observe the teacher’s screen and continue to work)

03. to stop sharing the teacher screen with students, click the Show button again

Blank or lock students’ screens

01. start the LanSchool Teacher Console

02. select all of the student computers you want to blank or lock, click the Blank Screen button, all selected computers will become locked and display a message instructing students to direct their attention to the front of the class

03. to unlock student computers, click the Blank Screen button again

Show a single student’s screen on other students’ screens

01. start the LanSchool Teacher Console

02. click to select the student computer you wish to display to all other students, click the Show Student button

03. to stop displaying the selected student’s screen, click the Show Student button again

Share files between the teacher computer and students’ computers

01. start the LanSchool Teacher Console

02. select all of the student computers you want to share files with, click the arrow-to-the-right of the Files button, click Send Files…, browse to the file you want to send to student computers
