Within the iSchool there are multiple options for video conferencing.

Software options
The software below can be used on your own personal computer for one-on-one meetings. It can also be used with conference webcam systems where multiple people might need to be in one room while conferencing with remote users.

Skype for Business

Skype for Business is part of Microsoft’s Office 365 suite and allows instant messaging and video conferencing. More information about accounts, software, and what you can actually do with Skype for Business, can be found here. With Skype for Business, you are able to host a video conference that non-UW-affiliated users can join.

Google Hangouts

Google Hangouts is an audio/video conferencing tool. It is available to all UW students, faculty, and staff providing they first activate their UW Google Apps account. Google Hangouts allows for audio/video conferencing with non-UW-affiliated users.

Skype

Skype is an audio/video conferencing tool. It has nothing to do with the UW or your UW accounts, but, it is an option.

 

Room options

All of the rooms below, require you to bring a laptop of your own in order to run the audio/video conference. Any of the software tools above, can be used with the conference webcam technology in the following rooms:

Mary Gates Hall room 015H

Mary Gates Hall room 015H is equipped with a Vaddio GroupSTATION.

Mary Gates Hall room 370H

Mary Gates Hall room 370H is equipped with a Logitech ConferenceCam CC3000e.

Roosevelt Commons Building room 402

Roosevelt Commons Building room 402 is equipped with a Logitech ConferenceCam CC3000e.

Bloedel Hall room 070A

Bloedel Hall room 070A is equipped with a Vaddio GroupSTATION.

In general, it is a good idea to arrive well before the video conference starts, to allow time for setup and troubleshooting should problems arise.
