It is often very convenient to include specific network information about the computer you are using when you submit a help request to All we need is the Host Name and IP address for most common troubleshooting tasks. If you are using an iSchool computer running Windows, please use the Info Gatherer app located in the Start Menu. If you still need to locate your IP Address, please use the following instructions.

If you have Windows Vista, 7, 8, or 10, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Start Menu and type cmd into the search box. Press Enter.
  2. At the command prompt type ipconfig /all

To find the IP address on a system running macOS, follow these steps:

  1. Open the “Terminal”, which is located in the Applications > Utilities folder.
  2. Type ifconfig and press enter. The IP addresses will appear on the lines beginning with “INET”.

Note: The computer name is the same as the Host Name.
